Tyndale Christian School Educational Garden

This outdoor space is designed as a sensory, educational community garden, rather than a traditional playground with swings and slides. It focuses on hands-on nature play, agricultural learning, and inclusive outdoor classroom gatherings.

The distinct, curved brown planters organize the space into clear zones, keeping pathways open and easy to navigate. The waist high corrugated planter beds serve as interactive zones where users can plant, tend, and harvest vegetables, herbs, and leafy greens. The stable paved surface is suitable for wheelchairs, strollers, and high-foot-traffic play. The wide paths ensure children can run and move between activities safely while remaining fully visible to supervisors. A set of low, semi-circular seating forms a natural outdoor classroom or gathering hub in the center of the garden. The dramatic, modern timber pergola provides a visual architectural focal point and structural support for future climbing vines to offer natural shade. WIth a blend of native and production plants the garden beds provide a natural windbreak, a screen for surrounding structures and help to soften the space. Another incredible construction job by the team of Betterlands.
